On a cool crisp fall day in 2005, ("cool" and "crisp" for Miami anyway), one of the Martinez Girls found herself far from home, 7 hours and 30 minutes to be exact, and in need of some cheering up. My sister was in her senior year at Florida State University and while initially double majoring seemed like a great idea, it now was overwhelming. Though my mother and I longed to be by her side to cheer her up, we knew our obligations in Miami would not allow that. So, we began scouring the internet to find the perfect care package to send to her. We searched, searched, and searched some more, but to no avail. We saw hundreds of wicker baskets and loads of sugary dime store candy, but nothing of real inspiration or substance. It was that night that we decided we could do this better than the so called "professionals." We wanted to send her quality gourmet snacks, gifts she would actually use, and items that would be cheerful and inspiring to her.Though we have come a long way from one care package for my sister, our objectives have remained the same. No matter what the occasion, we want to send the special person in your life something that they will truly enjoy and cherish for years to come. Our goal is not to pack a basket full of things that will end up in the garbage the same day as their arrival, but goods that the recipient would want to proudly display or serve to the finest of guests. Whether you want to send a great bottle of Champagne to congratulate someone on their promotion or your best girlfriend just broke up and needs some humor in her life, we have the perfect gift for you. And on the rare occasion that there is not a perfect basket for whatever your occasion, we would be thrilled if you called us and let us custom design a basket especially for you! Needless to say, my sister was thrilled with her gift. While my gifts and packages cannot take full or even a quarter of the credit for her many academic achievements to date, I know that my packages did bring a smile to her face when work seemed daunting and assignments seemed endless and for me that was enough.
